TheChutley vs. Skrimpish is a Youtube Poop/Video tennis match that took place between December 25, 2009 and August 24, 2010. While no sources prior to the match's start exist of any explicit confirmation, TheChutley can be spotted in the comments of Skrimpish's "Massage She Wrote"(2009), "100% pure horse glue"(2009) and "cell net.ex"(2009) offering her praise towards Skrimpish's already unique video-making style, which act as a prelude to the start of the match 4 days after the last video's upload.[1][2][3] Sources used include Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl(Episode 79 - "Strategy with a Smile!"(2008)), a Pokemon card of Glaceon, Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind(SNES, 1993), Kirby's Avalanche(SNES, 1995), Super Mario World(SNES, 1990), Super Mario All-Stars(SNES, 1993), Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!(SNES, 1996), Super Bases Loaded(SNES, 1991)[4], and the tracks "Route 228 (Night)" and "Route 216 (Night)" from the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl(DS, 2006) OST[5]. Sources stop being added after Round 3 with visual sources only added up to Round 2, with the rest of the match progressing through stacking visual and aural edits from both players to the end.
It was chronologically the 54th match played (but not completed) by TheChutley[6] and the first of three match attempts played by Skrimpish, with this attempt progressing the farthest at 7 rounds.[7] Round 1 of this match, "U. R. Joltoen; Not Me"(2009) marks the beginning of the "Glaceon" phase of TheChutley's uploads, which would feature as a recurring element mostly throughout 2010 with occasional subsequent appearances. The video is also a clear tribute to MycroProcessor's solo video "YOUR JOLTON YOU OUR SHRAP"(2009), emulating that video's use of solid color video layers in difference compositing and a circular cookie-cutted layer rotating the middle of the video frame while on the Pokemon of focus, which TheChutley hints at in the video's description: "It's also really similar to one of MycroProcessor's videos. I guess it's because I did this at midnight and was low on ideas? I don't know..."[8] A snippet of Round 3 was uploaded to TheChutley's briefly used "Glacoen" alt account as "I ATTRIBUTES HAVE COLD/ICY" in reference to "YOUR ARE GLACOEN YOU ATTRIBUTES HAVE COLD/ICY", the Glaceon themed image in the batch of images MycroProcessor made that also included the original image containing the phrase "YOU ARE JOLTOEN YOUR ARE SHARP!".[9][10] Round 5, "You Will Know Pain"(2010), was originally uploaded with a different title, subsequently changed by TheChutley "to prevent this thing from getting flamed like fuck."[11] Hints as to the nature of this title can be indicated from the video's surviving comment exchanges, the majority of which come from spoken dialogue in the then-newly released game Mass Effect 2(PC, 2010). MycroProcessor regularly praised the "Amazing keyframing"[12], audio editing and 3D effects of Skrimpish's rounds in both video comments and commentaries in the match's YouChew thread, and Skrimpish's Round 6, "Deuterium Oxide detected: manual control terminated"(2010), received acclaim from across the YTP spectrum for its editing accomplishments, with positive comments left by TheChutley, MycroProcessor, avojaifnot, glue70, shroomhead1, cupoficewater1 and MorfGworfmim.[13][14][15][16][17][18][19] Skrimpish stopped uploading after March 22, 2010; with Round 7 taking another 5 months to complete, it was never responded to. The match thread on YouChew was initially moved to Tennis: Completed following the posting of Round 6, moved back to Tennis: In Progess upon the upload of Round 7, before finally being moved to Tennis: Forfeited and Failed as a result of no Round 8 ever being finished.[20]
A relative deep cut in TheChutley's roster due to the brevity of her opponent within YTP and tennis, the match nonetheless remains influential and a secret classic due to its one-of-a-kind capturing of novel techniques in keyframing, audio editing, color alteration and layer compositing, continuing to slowly be rediscovered by subsequent generations of tennis community into the present day. All rounds continue to survive in their original uploads, and it was first compiled into a single video on "TheChutley Archive" in August 2024.
