The Great Restoration

The Great Restoration is an ongoing tennis archival and recovery project spearheaded by dani_phantump, VidTens443, RaymanChrome, and iminio that began in March and slowed in activity around May 2026. Through specific means, it was discovered at the end of the month previous to the project commencing that it was possible to recover the videos of any YouTube account that had been terminated by a third party at any time. Previously, this method had been used by the Recycle Bin collective to locate and extract lost videos by MeiAIDS, at which point dani_phantump crafted a list of names essential in the world of tennis that could also benefit from such retrieval. The first tennis videos to be fetched in this way were the long-lost uploads of PapaGonzales; this allowed the beginning of the restoration of much missing data from the Tennis League 1, including the first ever compilation of a full match from that event, Misselaioneous10 vs. PapaGonzales(2007). KonXII vs. XBR4D3NX(2008) became the 100th match to be restored through these efforts on April 28, 2026.

The process is being carrying out through API downloader links at a rate of only a few each day depending on the allowed quotas; one source is reported to be anonymous, with initial requests sent through a chain of connections between the team and the one fetching the files. Recovery is additionally only possible if existing links exist for those works that were under terminated accounts, making the YouChew archives, the Wayback Machine and collections of crawled YouTube data indispensable resources for locating the desired material, the latter especially regarding certain videos for which no other source of a link exists. Initially progressing at a snail's pace, recovery efforts increased in activity dramatically once dani_phantump themselves gained access to a downloader link, and produced the bulk of restored videos from BMATF vs. conradslater(2007) onward.

The name "The Great Restoration" has its origins in messages about tennis recovery written by dani_phantump in the Tennis Isles discord as early as September 2024, which they have subsequently jokingly described as "mad, prophetic visions" about the potential restoration of many matches that have been long lost. As of this writing, many names that contributed throughout tennis who had their accounts terminated by a third party have had anywhere from a few to many of their their works recovered, including TyrannosaurusReich, theHappyFungus, SergeantBacon, HighVoltageChrist, Ishkibibl, BMATF from his original account BigMarioAndTailsFan, Terroristx123, sonicnerd23, SushieBoy, Gallers, MVJ52197, seconteen13, MilkR0und, Y2Zero, MasuginaChicken, Christoph2772, scimath12, KonXII, Nuthead from her original account jellytime69, Gnomebob, Tentor521, pimpsahoy, Glitchboyadvance, Zatchy, TangerineImpz, AmazingCucumber, RideTheCatfish, BSP666c's original account, ZippZapp, ADHDYoshi, mYZterbattyX and others.
